Goodbye, Scooter of the Duder. I’m gonna miss you.

Yesterday afternoon, Scooter took his last walk. His anemia had gotten progressively worse over the past week and he had lost nearly 5 pounds in the last month. Christie and I decided that at 12 years old and with arthritis and muscle atrophy in his legs, it was time to go.

I had him 8 years. I spent all of five days apart from him, way back in the fall of 2012. That’s it.

Sometimes I didn’t understand when Christie would text me “I miss my dog,” from work. I guess I took it for granted that I would get to see my dog by the end of the day. Now I won’t.

Scooter, you were one of a kind and I love you, buddy.
